FALCONS HIT NEW HEIGHTS IN SALE DEMOLITION
Score: Falcons 2000 SC 9-0 Sale United
Falcons 2000’s women’s team have produced a performance for the ages, dismantling Sale United 9-0 in a devastating display that will send shockwaves through the FV Latrobe Valley Women’s competition.
For Sale, the three-time reigning LVSL champions and winners of the past four Browne-Huizer Cups, it was an afternoon unlike any other – one that felt unmistakably like a changing of the guard.
The Swans have been the benchmark of women's football in Gippsland for years, but all dynasties come to an end. This was their biggest defeat in more than a decade.
It wasn’t for lack of effort: the Swans never gave up but were simply overwhelmed by a Falcons outfit that has now won all seven of their matches this season and shows no signs of slowing down.
The scoring opened in the 15th minute when Sofia Crivari found the back of the net, before Talia Cook doubled the advantage just four minutes later as Falcons quickly took control of proceedings.
Savannah Lapenta made it 3-0 in the 26th minute before new signing Sophie Jarvis - making an immediate impact from the bench - struck in the 36th minute to make it four before the break.
Falcons showed no signs of slowing after halftime. Monique Lapenta added a fifth before the second half settled, and the floodgates truly opened.
Cook completed a brilliant brace with goals in the 47th and 59th minutes, while Crivari secured her own double in the 56th minute as Falcons surged into extraordinary territory.
Savannah Lapenta rounded off the scoring with her second of the afternoon in the 84th minute to seal a historic 9-0 victory.
Throughout the afternoon, goalkeeper Gabriella Crivari was a commanding and composed presence. Indeed, the whole Crivari family had an afternoon to remember - Arielle solid in defence, Sofia clinical in attack and Gabriella immovable in goal.
"We're not getting carried away. There's a long way to go in this season," said coach Rob Guarascio. "But these girls are raising the bar each week because they're putting the work in at training and on match day. This was a great win, but I want them to keep pushing to even greater heights."
However, their biggest challenge now awaits. Falcons take on Fortuna 60 - themselves unbeaten so far this season – in what looms as perhaps the biggest match-up in the history of women’s football in the Latrobe Valley.
Kickoff is at 4pm Sunday at Morwell Recreation Reserve. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and stick around for the senior men's blockbuster between Falcons and Fortuna.

KENNEDY HAT-TRICK FIRES FALCONS TO THRILLING WIN
Score: Falcons 2000 SC 3-2 Sale United
JORDAN Kennedy delivered a stunning hat-trick as Falcons 2000 claimed a hard-fought 3–2 victory over Sale United at the Morwell Recreation Reserve Synthetic on Sunday, extending their winning run to five matches in the FV Latrobe Valley Men's League.
It was a match that had everything - goals, drama and genuine quality - as two of the competition's in-form sides served up a contest worthy of the occasion, with Kennedy and brilliant Sale striker Isaak Jondahl soaring above all others.
“Since Jordan’s been back at the club the energy has lifted noticeably,” said Falcons veteran defender Joe Auciello. “It’s no surprise we’re five wins from five since his return.”
The Kennedy surname is no stranger to Falcons fans - he’s the younger brother of former club hero Jesse Kennedy, the club’s all-time leading scorer.
Falcons entered the game having won four consecutive matches and sitting within striking distance of table-toppers Monash and Traralgon Olympians, separated only on goal difference.
Meanwhile, Sale United arrived at Morwell with their own momentum, with back-to-back wins over Traralgon City and Newborough-Yallourn having restored confidence in Romi Bitar's camp.
On a mild, overcast May afternoon, Kennedy opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a clever lob to hand Falcons the early advantage.
Sale hit back almost immediately, however, with Jondahl levelling at 1-1 with a magnificent solo effort in the 16th minute to showcase why he is regarded as one of the league’s top strikers.
Far from being deterred, Falcons responded quickly and Kennedy restored the lead in the 28th minute with another dipping effort to make it 2-1 - only for Jondahl to strike again 10 minutes later with a rifled shot of his own as the two strikers made it a personal shootout.
The second half was a tense and absorbing affair as both sides realised victory was there to be taken.
However, it was Kennedy who ultimately proved the difference, completing his hat-trick with a powerful header from a superb cross by Josh Patterson, himself captain for the day in the absence of Jamie Pistrin
Sam Amaira (groin) and Lachlan Spiteri (ankle) both came into the game with injuries but dug deep to play key roles, while keeper Ben Johnstone was able to keep Sale at bay in the second half.
The victory keeps Falcons firmly in the title conversation as the season enters its critical phase, with the top of the table firmly in their sights.
Next Sunday brings perhaps the biggest test yet - a much-anticipated Morwell derby against fellow championship contenders Morwell Pegasus at the Morwell Recreation Reserve in front of what promises to be the biggest crowd of the season. Kick-off is at 2pm.

CRIVARI'S CRACKERS SET UP FALCONS ROMP
Score: Newborough-Yallourn United 0-4 Falcons 2000
Falcons 2000’s Senior Women produced another commanding display on Sunday afternoon, overpowering Newborough-Yallourn United 4-0 at Burrage Reserve in a superb performance that demonstrated complete control as they charged to their sixth consecutive win to start the season. From the opening whistle, Falcons dictated proceedings and pinned the hosts deep inside their own half, with the match played almost entirely in the visitors’ attacking third. After their bruising encounter with Traralgon City last week, where Falcons were pushed to their limits in a 3-1 win, this match saw the title challengers back to their best. “This was a total team performance - that’s how all four of our goals were created,” said coach Rob Guarascio. “We dominated possession, we held the ball and the girls all came together to work as a team for the entire 90 minutes.” Whilst Guarascio emphasised the team element throughout, it was the finishing of Sofia Crivari that gave the visitors an early edge. Her opening goal in the eighth minute showcased superb technical quality that this Falcons team is quickly becoming known for. Receiving the ball in traffic, Crivari executed a clever step-over to wrong-foot the NYUSC defence before calmly slotting home to give Falcons an early advantage. Five minutes later, she struck again to double the lead and continue her outstanding recent form. Falcons’ midfield pairing of Talia Cook and Kujile Mahamnud controlled the tempo superbly throughout the first half, consistently winning possession and launching wave after wave of attacks. As usual, Falcons superstar Monique Lapenta was also instrumental in the visitors’ dominance, causing constant problems with her movement and energy in the final third. The pressure eventually told again in the 35th minute when new signing Lexi Prichard added a third goal, capping another crisp attacking move to effectively put the contest beyond doubt before half-time. “We are thrilled to have Lexi join us. She was a key player for Gippsland United in the State League,” Guarascio said. “It’s wonderful to have her join us. It was a stellar debut and I know she’ll fit right in and play a big role for us this season.” Despite holding a comfortable lead, Falcons maintained their intensity after the break and continued to monopolise possession, while Newborough-Yallourn struggled to generate meaningful attacking opportunities. One of the standout moments of the match arrived late in the second half when Madison Rossi produced a brilliant individual effort to complete the scoring in the 83rd minute. Driving forward with purpose in trademark style, the midfielder surged past several defenders before unleashing a thunderbolt strike, putting the signature on a dominant team performance. Falcons will now aim to make it seven in a row when they host defending league champions Sale United at 4pm on Sunday at Morwell Recreation Reserve.

FALCONS MAKE IT FOUR IN A ROW AS COMBINE CRUMBLES
Score:2 Newborough-Yallourn United 1-5 Falcons 2000 Falcons 2000 extended their winning streak in the Football Victoria Latrobe Valley Senior Men’s league to four consecutive games with a magnificent 5-1 victory over Newborough-Yallourn United at Burrage Reserve on Sunday afternoon. Confidence was following through the Falcons' outfit after recent victories over East Gippsland, Moe United and Traralgon City and what followed was another statement performance, set up by three first half goals. “Going to Newborough is always tough, so we prepared ourselves very thoroughly heading into the match but ultimately we still had to execute and I thought our players did that in style,” said coach Adrian Salvatore “To be 3-0 up at the break was fantastic - and a fitting reward for the way the boys were playing.” “It’s an exciting brand of football that the group is starting to produce. Hopefully we can continue building on that momentum and keep this strong run going.” Falcons wasted little time imposing themselves on the contest, striking in just the sixth minute through Jordi Vacca, whose composed finish rewarded the visitors’ bright opening spell. The early breakthrough immediately unsettled the Combine, with Falcons controlling possession and repeatedly threatening through their quick movement and attacking intensity. An early substitution forced Salvatore into a reshuffle when Thomas D’Alia replaced Sam Amaira - who scored a brace against Traralgon City the previous weekend - in the 25th minute, but the visitors barely missed a beat. Toby Capp doubled the advantage four minutes later before adding his second in the 37th minute to complete a devastating first-half display. At 3-0 down, the Combine faced a daunting second-half task against a Falcons side which defended with authority, on their way to back-to-back clean sheets for the first time this season. Jordan Kennedy effectively sealed the result in the 68th minute when he added Falcons’ fourth goal - although NYUSC stalwart Mark Fairbrother converted a penalty two minutes later to briefly give the home side hope. But Falcons never looked troubled and co-captain Jamie Pistrin completed the rout with a penalty of his own in the 90th minute. The result continues a dramatic turnaround for Falcons after their difficult start to the campaign. Four straight wins have lifted the mood around the club, with Salvatore praising the group’s work ethic after shock back-to-back losses to begin the year. “The playing group worked extremely hard for the result and showed what they’re capable of when they’re playing with confidence and cohesion,” he said. “We’re very proud of the performance but our focus is already shifting to hosting Sale next week and building on this run of form.” Falcons’ clash against Sale United - who are also emerging as an outside title chance - will kick off at 2pm next Sunday at the Morwell Recreation Reserve.

FALCONS COME UP CLUTCH AGAINST DETERMINED ROOSTERS
Score: Falcons 2000 SC 3-1 Traralgon City SC
Falcons 2000 SC Senior Women continued their brilliant start to the 2026 Football Victoria Latrobe Valley campaign on Sunday afternoon, overcoming fellow high-flyers Traralgon City 3-1 on the Morwell Recreation Reserve Synthetic pitch in a clash between two of the competition’s form sides.
Coming into the contest unbeaten after four rounds and fresh from a commanding 5-1 demolition of Moe United, Robert Guarascio’s Falcons were handed their sternest challenge yet by a confident Traralgon City outfit that stunned defending champions Sale United 4-0 last week.
In perfect conditions, a large crowd was on hand to celebrate 100 club games for Ashleigh Dalton and Rebekah Poynton - but the mood soon changed when the Falcons realised this would be their toughest battle of the season so far.
The Roosters silenced the home fans in the 12th minute when Claudia Buhagiar found the breakthrough for Nathan Batt’s side, finishing neatly to give City a 1-0 advantage.
However, Falcons responded quickly and decisively. Monique Lapenta, who has been in outstanding form throughout the opening month of the season, restored parity in the 18th minute after the hosts began to settle into their rhythm.
The equaliser shifted momentum decisively in Falcons’ favour. Madison Rossi began motoring forward with trademark attacking runs, while sweeper Sheeny Whadcoat marshalled the defence superbly.
Fresh from her outrageous solo goal against Moe, Whadcoat rolled up her sleeves to win every physical battle in a commanding display that showed the league she is back to her best in 2026.
Goalkeeper Gabriella Crivari, returning in goal after missing last week’s match, provided calmness between the posts whenever required.
Falcons eventually found the decisive moment midway through the second half. After sustained attacking pressure, Monique Lapenta struck again in the 65th minute to give the hosts a deserved 2-1 lead, making it 11 goals in five games - putting her well in front as the league's leading scorer.
Substitute Kryss Parrilla then made an immediate impact from the bench, finding the net in the 67th minute to extend the advantage to 3-1.
From there, Guarascio’s side expertly managed the remainder of the match. Sofia Crivari and Malaya Noppert continued to drive the team forward while Savannah Lapenta and Kujile Mahammud pressed furiously.
Traralgon City continued to battle bravely throughout the closing stages but struggled to break down a disciplined Falcons' structure.
Falcons now remain unbeaten after five rounds, with their explosive attack and defensive organisation emerging as one of the defining stories of the season so far.
Next week sees Falcons travel to Burrage Reserve to face Newborough-Yallourn United, with the match kicking off at 11am on Sunday.

Newborough-Yallourn United v Falcons 2000
Sunday 17 May 2026, 11am

Score: Falcons 2000 SC 3-0 Traralgon City SC
Falcons 2000 made it three league wins in a row in delivering an authoritative 3-0 dismantling of Traralgon City at the Morwell Recreation Reserve Synthetic on Sunday afternoon, reaffirming their aspirations of being genuine contenders for the 2026 Football Victoria Latrobe Valley Men's title.
While Falcons stuttered through the opening weeks of the campaign, Adrian Salvatore's side have found a devastating consistency – this victory completing a run of three straight wins that included a stunning five-star demolition of reigning champions Moe United last week. The Falcons have now scored eleven goals in their last three matches, conceding just one, and the mood around the club has been transformed entirely.
For the Roosters, it was another painful afternoon. Beke Mapiye's men remain winless after five rounds, their only point a hard-earned 1-1 draw away to Newborough-Yallourn back in Round 3. Traralgon City were subsequently outclassed by a rampant Sale United and found no respite here.
In blazing May sunshine, Falcons were as hot as the weather from the opening moments and were rewarded in extraordinary fashion inside the first two minutes. Sam Amaira, electric throughout, drove at the City defence and finished coolly to give the hosts a 1–0 lead that silenced any early nerves and set the tone for what was to follow.
The early strike immediately put City on the back foot and the hosts capitalised on their opponents' disorganisation. The Roosters had no answer to Amaira's movement in behind, and their afternoon grew more difficult still when co-captain Kieran Hanlon picked up a caution in the 32nd minute and was promptly withdrawn, forcing Mapiye into an unwanted reshuffle.
Falcons made the most of their dominance, and Jordi Vacca added a second in the 26th minute to make it 2–0 and effectively put the result beyond doubt before the half-hour mark. Luke Waters followed Hanlon off the pitch at half-time as the Roosters attempted to stop the bleeding.
However, Falcons remained in cruise control and the third goal arrived in the 71st minute and belonged, fittingly, to Amaira, who completed a well-deserved brace to close the contest entirely. It was a goal that rewarded an outstanding individual performance from a player who has consistently been one of the league's best forwards during the past decade.
City's frustration was evident throughout, with Hanlon, Luke Waters, Stefan Giglio and Tsz Kit Wong all shown yellow across the afternoon. Nick D'Alessandro, Thomas D'Alia, Jordan Kennedy, Scott Mackeown and Edi Ali were all introduced in the closing stages as Salvatore rotated his squad with one eye on next week.
The foundation of the victory, as has so often been the case during this three-game surge, was built on defensive solidity. Joe Auciello and Lachlan Spiteri were in control at the back, with keeper Ben Johnstone rarely needed to repeat last week's heroics. In the midfield, Jayden Unmack and centrocampista Gabrielle Bochicchio controlled the flow and created countless chances.
Salvatore's side will be full of confidence heading into next week, where they travel to Burrage Reserve for a clash with Newborough Yallourn-United at 3pm.

FIRST-HALF FURY SECURES ANOTHER BIG WIN FOR FALCONS
Score: Moe United SC 1–5 Falcons 2000
Falcons 2000 SC Senior Women delivered a commanding performance to dismantle Moe United 5-1 at Olympic Reserve, overpowering the hosts with a devastating early blitz in persistent rain.
Coming off three straight wins, Falcons wasted no time asserting control yet again. The unstoppable Savannah Lapenta opened the scoring inside two minutes, before Monique Lapenta - celebrating her birthday and her 50th club game on the same day - struck just a minute later to stun the home side and establish a 2-0 lead almost immediately.
Robert Guarascio’s side maintained their attacking momentum throughout the first half, with Monique adding her second in the 26th minute to cap a dominant opening period. Defensive leader and co-captain Sheeny Whadcoat then extended the advantage to 4–0 in the 35th minute with a genuine goal of the season contender.
Taking possession near halfway, Whadcoat turned and surged at pace past two opponents before breaking into space and letting fly with a curling effort from the edge of the area that Moe goalkeeper Renee Vidler simply couldn’t stop.
Falcons continued to press after the break, with Madison Rossi - who put in an outstanding shift all day - adding a fifth goal in the 61st minute to complete another clinical attacking display.
Moe United managed a consolation through Tiana Reddiex in the 76th minute but it did little to disrupt Falcons’ overall dominance across the ninety minutes.
The performance highlighted the side’s depth, with the Lapenta sisters once again central to the attacking threat, while Whadcoat’s influence at the back ensured Moe’s star pairing of Haley Laws and Rebecca van der Koogh couldn’t have their usual impact.
After blazing an early trail in the first three matches, Falcons will face their biggest test of the season to date at home against Traralgon City on Sunday at 4pm, with the Roosters brimming with confidence after trouncing title-favorites Sale United 4-0.

FALCONS STUN REIGNING CHAMPIONS IN FIVE-STAR DISPLAY
Score: Moe United SC 1-5 Falcons 2000
Falcons 2000 have announced themselves as belated contenders in the 2026 Football Victoria Latrobe Valley Men’s competition, producing an outstanding performance to dismantle reigning champions Moe United 5-1 at Olympic Reserve on Sunday.
Played in persistent rain on a bumpy surface with long grass, the contest loomed as a stern test for Adrian Salvatore’s side against a Moe outfit who had opened their campaign with three straight wins and entered the match as clear favourites.
The result marks back-to-back 5-1 victories for Falcons following last week’s breakthrough win away to East Gippsland United, signalling a dramatic turnaround after a difficult start to the season.
Speaking post-match, Salvatore urged his side to use the victory as a springboard for the remainder of the campaign.
"We didn't start the season as we wanted, we let ourselves down and we've only got ourselves to blame for that," he said. “But this victory showed how good we can be. We've now got to knuckle down, build some momentum and do everything we can to make this a season to remember."
Whilst the opening half-hour was relatively even, co-captain Joshua Patterson broke the deadlock in the 44th minute with a fine effort from an acute angle that left Moe's legendary goalkeeper Peter Albanese stranded.
The goal sparked enormous belief – and the second half belonged almost entirely to Falcons. A fine team move ended with Toby Capp doubling the advantage in the 54th minute before Jayden Unmack’s floating free-kick made it 3-1 in the 64th minute.
With belief surging through the Falcons’ ranks, substitute Nick D’Alessandro made an immediate impact, adding a fourth in the 73rd minute that effectively ended the contest.
The Red Devils managed a consolation through Levi Heusmann in the 82nd minute but any hopes of a late resurgence were quickly extinguished when Falcons co-captain Jamie Pistrin tapped home in the 89th minute to restore the four-goal margin and complete a resounding 5-1 victory.
However, the foundation for the win was built at the other end. Goalkeeper Ben Johnstone delivered a standout performance, producing a series of remarkable saves - including a crucial double block - to preserve Falcons’ early advantage.
The experience of returning club stalwarts proved a masterstroke. Central defender Joseph Auciello, the club’s all-time games record holder, marshalled the backline superbly, while D’Alessandro’s composure in midfield helped ice the game.
The Falcons will be looking to make it three-in-a-row when they face Traralgon City at home on Sunday at 2pm, a game they simply have to win after losing their first two matches.

KENNEDY DOUBLE FIRES FALCONS TO FIRST WIN of 2026
Score: East Gippsland United 1–5 Falcons 2000
Falcons 2000 SC Senior Men ended their wait for a first win of the 2026 season in emphatic fashion, travelling to West Bairnsdale Oval on a perfect 24-degree autumn afternoon and dismantling East Gippsland United FC 5-1 in Round 3.
The result provided a timely and convincing response after a challenging start to the campaign – a 5-1 opening day defeat to Monash at home, followed by a hard-fought 4-3 loss away to Churchill United in Round 2 - with Adrian Salvatore's side turning in their most complete performance of the season to date.
Jordan Kennedy was the standout performer, netting a classy brace to put Falcons firmly in control. He opened the scoring in the 35th minute with a composed finish to break the deadlock, setting the tone for an afternoon of clinical attacking play. Sam Amaira then doubled the advantage in the 44th minute, ensuring Falcons headed into the break with a two-goal cushion and the match very much in their hands.
The second half was a masterclass in efficiency. Kennedy completed his brace with another assured finish in the 57th minute before Jayden Unmack added a fourth just three minutes later, a devastating five-minute spell that put the result firmly beyond doubt and underlined the Falcons' threat in the final third.
East Gippsland did pull one back in the 72nd minute through Lachlan Feather - a rare consolation for a side that has now conceded 21 goals across three matches without registering a single point in 2026 - but Falcons were unfazed. Mohamad Taleb and Rylan Bullen provided fresh impetus off the bench as the visitors managed the game with composure, and Joshua Patterson put the seal on a thoroughly deserved victory with an 89th minute goal to complete the 5–1 scoreline.
Star trio Tom D'Alia, Amaira and Unmack led by example throughout, helping Falcons dictate the tempo from first whistle to last, while goalkeeper Ben Nicholls was rarely tested behind a backline that kept East Gippsland largely at arm's length across the ninety minutes.
The victory lifts Falcons off the bottom of the table and, crucially, provides the belief and momentum that had been missing through the season's opening fortnight. With confidence restored and combinations clicking, Salvatore's side will look to make it back-to-back wins next Sunday when they travel east to Olympic Park to take on reigning champions and early season pace-setters Moe United.

LAPENTA HAT-TRICK GIVES FALCONS A LIGHTNING START TO 2026
Score: Tyers Lightning 0–8 Falcons 2000
Falcons 2000 SC Senior Women produced yet another stunning display to make it three wins from three to start the 2026 season, travelling to Tyers Recreation Reserve and dismantling Tyers Lightning 8–0 in Round 3 to remain the clear benchmark side in the FV Latrobe Valley Senior Women's League.
Building on a 7–1 opening day win over Monash at home and a clinical 6–0 demolition of Churchill United in Round 2, Rob Guarascio's side were in devastating form from the first whistle, scoring four times before half-time and never once loosening their grip on the contest.
Talia Cook set the tone inside six minutes, stabbing home to give Falcons an immediate initiative. Kujile Mahammud quickly added a second in the 16th minute before Sofia Crivari got in on the act with a composed finish in the 24th to make it three and the rout was truly underway. Falcons were relentless in their movement and precision, giving the hosts no time to settle.
Tyers began the game with only 10 players, and to their credit, battled away gamely against a team many critics believe are destined for a championship tilt.
It was co-captain Monique Lapenta, however, who turned the afternoon into a truly special occasion. The Falcons skipper struck twice in quick succession – in the 26th and 34th minutes – to take her side into the break with a commanding 5–0 lead and herself well on the way to a memorable hat-trick.
Lapenta completed the treble with a composed third goal in the 61st minute, capping a dominant personal display and cementing the afternoon as one to savour. It was a performance that underlines the attacking depth and chemistry this Falcons side possesses in abundance.
This made it seven goals in Lapenta's first three games of 2026, leading some to wonder if there's a defender anywhere in Gippsland capable of stopping her.
Madison Rossi then took centre stage, netting twice in the 65th and 74th minutes to put the finishing touches on a superb team performance. Molly Claassens, stepping into the starting XI in place of Jade Derham, also caught the eye and justified her inclusion with an energetic display throughout.
At the other end, goalkeeper Gabriella Crivari kept a third consecutive clean sheet and brilliantly marshalled a defensive unit that looked almost impossible to break down.
Falcons now boast a remarkable record of 21 goals scored and just one conceded in three rounds – a testament to the balance and quality Guarascio has built across the park. They will look to extend that unbeaten run on Sunday morning when they travel to Olympic Park to face Moe United as they hope to move to four straight wins.

BRAVE FALCONS UNDONE BY RAMS’ LATE GOAL BLITZ
Score: Churchill United 4-3 Falcons 2000
Falcons 2000 SC produced a vastly improved performance but were ultimately edged 4-3 by Churchill United in a dramatic Round 2 clash at Hazelwood South Reserve on Sunday afternoon.
Responding to last week’s disappointing 5-1 hammering against Monash, Falcons showed far greater intent from the outset, with Sam Amaira striking early to give the visitors a 1–0 lead in the 7th minute.
The bright start signalled a clear lift in intensity and attacking cohesion from Adrian Salvatore’s side.
However, the match turned dramatically in the 12th minute when Lachlan Spiteri was shown a red card, forcing Falcons to play the remainder of the contest with 10 men.
The dismissal significantly shifted the balance of the match with Churchill United gradually gaining control through possession and territory.
Churchill levelled through a fine individual effort from Takudzwa Gwara in the 53rd minute before taking the lead in the 64th minute via star striker Germaine Otieno, turning the match around after the break.
But Falcons refused to back down, with Amaira adding his second goal in the 86th minute to keep the contest alive and give the Morwell-based side hope of an unlikely victory.
However, Churchill United responded almost immediately through Ryan Ayres in the 88th minute, restoring the Rams’ slender lead.
Falcons continued to push forward and found an equaliser in the 93rd minute, with ex-Ram Jayden Unmack striking to bring the visitors level.
But just moments later, the hosts delivered the decisive blow, with Otieno scoring in the 94th minute to secure all three points for the Rams.
There were strong positives for the Falcons despite the result, as the side showed huge resilience and character despite playing over 75 minutes with 10 men.
While the loss leaves Falcons winless after two rounds, the performance - particularly under prolonged numerical disadvantage – underlined clear improvement from a disappointing opening round defeat.
Falcons will now turn their attention to Round 3, travelling to face East Gippsland United at West Bairnsdale Oval on Sunday 26 April (2pm kickoff), where they will look to secure their first points of the season.

FURIOUS FALCONS BURY RAMS AS DERHAM, LAPENTA RUN AMOK
Score: Churchill United 0-6 Falcons 2000
Falcons 2000 SC Senior Women continued their strong start to the season with a dominant 6-0 victory over Churchill United in Round 2 at Hazelwood South Reserve.
Building on last week’s emphatic performance, a 7-1 win over Monash at home, Falcons were again clinical in front of goal and in control throughout, overwhelming the home side with pace and precision.
Falcons made their intent clear early, with Jade Derham opening the scoring in the 14th minute before doubling her tally just four minutes later to put Falcons firmly in command at 2–0 inside the opening 20 minutes. Her sharp movement and composure in front of goal set the tone for a memorable day out for the visitors.
Falcons carried that momentum into the second half, with Savannah Lapenta taking centre stage after the half-time break.
After starring last week alongside sister Monique, Savannah struck twice in quick succession (47’, 53’) to effectively put the result beyond doubt, continuing her outstanding form and highlighting the side’s attacking chemistry.
Churchill’s difficult afternoon was compounded just before the hour mark when an own goal extended the lead to five, as Falcons’ relentless pressure forced further errors from the hosts.
Despite the comfortable margin, Falcons showed no signs of easing off. Talia Cook added a sixth goal in the 84th minute to cap off a comprehensive team performance, rewarding the side’s sustained attacking intent.
At the other end, Falcons remained resolute defensively, with goalkeeper Gabriella Crivari well protected throughout as the backline ensured Churchill were unable to gain any foothold in the contest.
The result underlines the squad’s balance across the pitch, with multiple contributors on the scoresheet and a defensive unit - led by all-time senior women’s games’ record holder Sheeny Whadcoat - that continues to perform strongly.
With back-to-back commanding victories to start the season, Rob Guarascio’s are building strong momentum and establishing themselves as one of the early benchmark teams in the competition.
They will look to carry that form into next week against Tyers Lightning at home as this season full of promise continues to gather pace.
